Migrating from another theme

You should have no trouble migrating from another theme to Feast. Below are the points to remember when migrating.

  • »When migrating you will not lose any information in your old posts andd pages. You will however lose access to custom post types of previous themes.

  • The WP-Restaurant theme makes use of a number of custom images sizes.

Image sizes are prepared as soon as you select an image to be a featured image in a post. Images that you have posted to your previous theme will therefore have the wrong sizes and might not show properly in this theme.

This can be fixed by installing and running the regenerate thumbnails plugin after the installation of the WP-Restaurant theme.

  • Lastly you need to ensure that your frontpage settings is correct for the theme to work.

Click on settings → reading on the mainmenu.
Ensure that "frontpage displays: your latest posts" is selected.

Twitter widgets

Important things to know about the twitter widget:

The twitter widget uses intelligent caching. The benefit of it its that there is no loading time for your tweets to display, and your tweets will keep on displaying if twitter is down or you reached your hourly quota.

This is achieved by contacting twitter after the page is displayed. The negative about this system is that your first visitor after you have added a tweet will not see your new tweet. they will be cching the tweet for the next visitors.

If you added twitter and do not see it straight away, do not worry, your tweets are being cached.

If you d onot plan to use this widget, do not enter your twitter username in the theme options panel, and the caching system will not be turned on.

This section will assist you with the two twitter widgets.
